Autumn in South Korea not only blesses us with beautiful oranges, reds and yellows but also with gorgeous pink muhly grass also known as hairawn muhly.
Although this hair-like grass originates in the US Midwest it can be found in a plethora of places throughout the country from mid-September until late October/early November. Here are some of the top places to see Pink Muhly in Korea.

Seoul
Haneul Park

Haneul Park, also known as Sky Park, is the most popular of the five World Cup Parks and it’s easy to see why. The park offers marvellous views of the capital as it’s located on the highest part of World Cup Park. It’s also home to a variety of plants other than pink muhly such as Kochia Bushes.
Olympic Park
424, Olympic-ro, Songpa-gu, Seoul
Olympic Park was originally built for the 1988 Seoul Olympics and is home to South Korea’s largest sports arena. Nowadays it’s a place for locals to relax and unwind.
The park is massive and could take about 3 hours to fully explore as there are plenty of places to visit such as the Leisure Sports Park, Environmental Eco-Park and the History Experience Park.
Besides the pink muhly grass, you can see other types of flowers and plants such as poppies and various forms of roses. You can even ice skate there in the winter, so Olympic Park is beautiful to visit even outside of the pink muhly period.
Jamwon Hangang Park

Seoul has 12 beautiful Han River Parks that offer wonderful views and great spaces to hang out with your friends and family.
Despite Jamwon Hangang Park having fewer facilities than other parks such as Banpo Hangang Park and Yeouido Hangang Park, it stands out for its pink muhly field. The park is a short walk from Garosugil Road, so you can visit both attractions in one go.
Yangjaecheon Stream and Ecological Park

Yangjaecheon Stream, unsurprisingly located in Yangjae-dong, Seoul, is a tributary of the Hangang River. It flows from Gwacheong in Gyeonggi-do to the southern part of Seoul.
The whole area, which includes the ecological park, offers picturesque views of nature and wildlife. In fact, there are at least 300 different kinds of animals and plants in the park. It’s no wonder why Yangjaecheon Stream and Ecological Park are very popular with visitors all year round.
Busan
Eulsukdo Island

Eulsukdo Island, located east of Busan’s city centre, is best known for watching migratory birds between October and March. It’s home to over 150 species of birds such as snipes, swans, waterfowls, among others.
However, the island is also spectacular in the autumn not only because of the pink muhly grass that grows there but also because of its willow forest and reed beds.
Daejeo Ecological Park

Daejeo Ecological Park is close to Gimhae Airport and runs along the riverbanks of Nakdonggang River. Like on Eulsukdo Island, you can also find a variety of species of ecological birds at Daejeo Ecological Park.
The park is made up of various marshes and waterways, flowers and grasses, and exercise facilities. In additions, the annual Nakdong Canola Festival that takes place in April is celebrated here.
Gyeongju
Cheomseongdae Pink Muhly Field

Cheomseongdae is the oldest existing astronomical observatory in Asia and perhaps even in the whole world. It was listed as a national treasure of South Korea in 1962, and since then become a staple attraction for those visiting Gyeongju.
It attracts even more visitors during autumn as tourists can take cool photos of the pink grass against the backdrop of the historical construction.
Bomun Tourist Complex

Bomun Tourist Complex is located near downtown Gyeongju. It includes Bomun Lake, walkways, and bike lanes. In autumn, the pink muhly and the artificial placid lake look mesmerising together.
Jeju Island
Hueree Park

Hueree Natural Park is a beautiful natural life experience park near Mount Halla and is often selected as one of the Best Korean Tourist Attractions. Other than basking in the pink muhly grass, you can see a Black Pig Show and see the Flora and Fauna of the park.
Kitchen Oz

Kitchen Oz is a café restaurant close to Hallim beach on Jeju Island. It’s surrounded by pink grass hills and lavender flowers. This gorgeous combination of pink and purple make it a must-see place to visit in Jeju during the autumn.
It’s also worth visiting the café for a drink as to see the picturesque scenery of the pink muhly grass and purple lavender stretching endlessly outside.
Herb Dongsan

Jeonju
Korea Expressway Corporation Arboretum

The Korea Expressway Corporation Arboretum, known more commonly as Jeonju Arboretum, is popular all year round but receives more visitors during autumn thanks to the pink muhly grass. There are tons of other flowers to see at the arboretum too.

Suncheon Bay National Garden
